Michelle’s political stance is a breath of fresh air among career politicians. Through strengthening our community, working together as neighbors, and letting the residents be part of the decision making process Witthaus will truly represent the Sixth Ward. She plans to do this by working with residents and current neighborhood committees to decide how the budget is spent. This policy, called participatory budgeting, focuses on getting residents to create projects and vote on how the money in their ward is spent. Participatory budgeting has already been implemented in Chicago’s 49th Ward and among eight council-districts in New York City.

Watch this video to see why Participatory Budgeting should be brought to the 6th Ward.
